Abstract
The paper reports on research of an e-learning initiative for the training of e-learning professionals in South East Asia. The aim of the project, called ‘Asian Distance Education – e-learning Professional Training (ADEPT), is to foster excellence in e-learning in higher education institutions in Southeast Asian nations. In doing so, a training needs survey was developed and a web –based application has been used for the implementation of the survey. The key issues of designing the survey are addressed and the way the study was conducted is explained. Emphasis is given on the analysis of the results particularly with regard to the division of the sample according to their cultural background. Further more, the results provide an overview of the training needs of e-learning professionals in an intercultural context.
