Abstract
This chapter was written as part of extended research work on play and language, for an internationally refereed publication examining children’s metaphoric aspects of children’s literature. Forming part of a section on ‘Place, Space and Scopes of Mind’, the chapter cites Bachelard’s ‘oneiric’ space as an argument for reading the picturebook as bounded in a separate ontology of play: ludic, temporal and spatial.
