Abstract
The DCMS, as part of its development of a strategy for Dance, commissioned this single-authored report. While the contents are confidential, the report sparked a number of initiatives including a PALATINE report focused on a complementary theme and a report by Tony Hall, Chief Executive of the Royal Opera House. My report provided the intellectual underpinning for Hall and through an analysis of current provision, raised questions about anomalies in the existing pathways into dance and the structures/resources that support them. In addition questions arose concerning the gaps in the provision that were made evident. Both my report and that of Hall will be made available to ministers including David Lammy, Minister for Culture, and to Lord Andrew Adonis DfES Parliamentary Under Secretary of State so that synergies across the education and arts sectors can be achieved.
