Abstract
By broaching the idea of curating a public heritage of recent formal and informal monuments to the Troubles in Derry, this essay also countenances the problematics announced by an ambition to curate a city.
This piece connects with a series of publications and other curated works. Most notable in this is my essay on Willie Doherty's work on the image of Derry in the political consciousness. Hovever, Curating Derry also connects with my chapter in ‘Spaces Buildings Make', Kiendl, A. (ed) Informal Architectures, Banff: The Banff Centre Press, 2008, which explores the epistemological problems encountered by architectural photography. It also connects to my book ‘Phase 2', which details and explores the project I curated with Andrew Kearney in his ‘Spaces Buildings Make' exhibition (see Kearney's RA2 return for this).
