Laser cutting with character
Flynn, Danny A. (2008) Laser cutting with character. The Blue Notebook: Journal For Artists' Books, 3 (1) . pp. 38-45. ISSN 1751 - 1712 [Article]
Abstract
The author has experimented with laser cutting printable letterforms and patterns from acrylic material for both traditional wood type routing and to specifically fit in conjunction with Monotype’s original industrial machines that use a pantograph to trace, resize and cut detailed steel punches to manufacture matrices for the pouring of new metal type. Methods of working with type onscreen for printing in letterpress are also discussed and examples shown.
