Abstract

Positively charged filter media were used to recover bacteriophage f2 and poliovirus 1 from tap water at ambient pH level 7.8 without added multivalent cations. Recoveries from 201. vol of water with Carlson-Ford type 4 asbestos filters averaged 65% for the phage and 68% for the poliovirus after elution with alkaline nutrient broth.
