This report examines the size of the black and minority ethnic (BME) business population in the South East Region, the types of businesses and characteristics of their owner-managers, the contribution they are making to the economy and to local communities, and the constraints they are facing. Recommendations are made concerning how to improve the prospects for BME businesses and to increase their contribution to the region, drawing on the latest understanding of what constitutes good practice in business support.
