Abstract

Sustainable Early Childhood Education in England.
This presentation will explore the concept of professional sustainability from the discipline of Early Childhood Studies.

There are a collection of 17 interlinked global goals designed to be a "blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all". The SDGs were set up in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly (UN-GA) and are intended to be achieved by 2030. However, it is pertinent to question if the 17 goals can be achieved (and to what level) by 2030. If we reflect back to the Millennium Development Goals we can see that the more we aim to reach specific goals, the further away they become. This presentation aims to provoke those working with and for young children to articulate from the sector ‘what is sustainable practice and what do we need to do to be sustainable?’
