Aim
“Investigate common domestic waste kerbside collection and recycling practices in the UK to establish their relationship with operative’s health around musculoskeletal (MSD) injuries as a contribution to the risk assessment decision making process”.
5 Objectives
1 develop a process of data collection to enable absence management performance to be compared between different LA/waste Management organisations
2 investigate the nature of MSD injuries in relation to waste collection
3 identify methods of waste collection that give rise to the lowest risk of MSD
4 investigate and develop body mapping as a MSD risk comparator tool
5 compare the MSD element of the HSE’s risk management tool for waste collection with the findings from previous objectives as a validation process
