Abstract

‘A Ship Called Jesus Redux’ (2021) is a single channel video work with sound commissioned by the Ikon Gallery Birmingham and exhibited in their Tower Room Gallery from the 15th September – 21st November 2021 and online.

The work revisits themes exploring historic links between the Christian Church and the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade first explored in a major solo exhibition by Keith Piper held at the Ikon Gallery in 1991 entitled ‘A Ship Called Jesus’.
