[Show/Exhibition]
Abstract
Jet Black Futures (II) was a solo exhibition commissioned by the New Art gallery Walsall and exhibited in their galleries from 14th January to 24th April 2022. The exhibition was comprised of two large bodies of new work; A large scale four channel video work entitled ‘In Search of Four Horses’ (2021-22) and a series of 16 digital prints on banners entitled ‘Jet Black Futures’ (2021-22). Both works exploded themes around the multiple ways in which the future can be predicted through the lens of contemporary social and political anxieties.
Also exhibited in this solo show was a series of digital prints on Dibond entitled ‘Pulp Fictions’ (2016-17) and a 1992 video installation entitled ‘Surveillance: Tagging the Other’. Both works extended the exploration of anxieties around the future and the interplay between technology and human subjectivity.
