Geography’s just colouring! What can history teachers genuinely learn from the pedagogies and discipline of geography?

Baker, Tremaine (2022) Geography’s just colouring! What can history teachers genuinely learn from the pedagogies and discipline of geography? In: Historical Association Annual Conference, 13-14 May 2022, Bristol. . [Conference or Workshop Item]

Abstract

How can the spatial focus of geography enrich a history lesson? How can environmental factors provide a broader focus to causation enquiries? How does geographic empathy, of different people and places, relate to the history classroom? This session, built on the popularity of recent publications, such as Origins (Dartnell, 2019) and The Power of Geography (Marshall, 2021), will show how geography can be effectively brought into the history classroom to enhance learning.
