Abstract
The modern worl of gathering the news bears little resemblance to the world that first saw the emergence of the desire to share what we might loosely be described as factual information with a willing audience. Facts and objectivity are now seen as key ingredients in presenting news to a mass audience. But these elements only emerged as sacrosanct after a long and often tortuous journey down the centuries.
