Abstract
Commissioned for Die Welt als virtuelles environment/The world as virtual environment. Ghislaine wrote this 12000 word essay by gathering material from 25 international artists/researchers such as Sher Doruff, Amanda Steggell, Isabelle Choiniere, kondition pluriel, Paul Sermon and Hellen Sky. Boddington asked them a series of questions, examining their different experiences of "being" in performative telematics.
Ghislaine’s essay draws on material from over 25 interviews with international artists/researchers such as Sher Doruff, Amanda Steggell, Isabelle Choiniere, kondition pluriel, Paul Sermon and Hellen Sky to examine different experiences of ‘being in’ performative telematics. This was published in conjunction with CYNETart_07 encounter a festival of new media performances, networks of interactive environments and installations that explored the theme of telepresence. Ghislaine worked with Michael Takeo Magruder (King’s Visualization Lab, King’s College London) with a performance in Second Life. She worked alongside him on the dramaturgical issues and presentation of the piece to both a live and a Second Life audience.
