Abstract
Ghislaine Boddington co-conceived and co-created Freeze.B with and Coney (London/anywhere) and produced by body>data>space in association with centre des arts (Enghien-les-Bains); in collaboration with Solar Associates (London).
On 5th June, the town of Enghien-les-Bains was transformed. Using all five senses the public were invited to follow from the railway station, through the street, to the church and the market, discovering the town's joie de vivre. At a given moment the public became living statues, silent and still as their senses soaked in the spirit of the town.
She also curated three other works for the festival.

Additional Information: | -Squidsoup-Ghost. Ghosts explores text-based communication in the digital age. It plays with the notion of instant messaging (mobile text messages, emails and so on) and question what happens when these messages are given a new context and longer-term existence & a new, virtual, lease of life.
-Squidsoup-Discontinuum built on the NOVA 3D LED grid. A camera feed is passed through physical space over time, creating imagery that contains fragments from a range of times simultaneously. The time is ordered in the third dimension, as if time was flowing in a particular direction. Shown suspended on the 3D LED grid this work which visualises data dynamically in the three dimensions. -Stanza- Robotica IV Control inside the Panopticon. Twelve robots- each named after prison inmate numbers roam freely on a canvas on the floor of the casino in Enghien-les-Bains. These robotic prisoners are sent out across the canvas with small tasks to complete. This robotic wandering is captured over the evening onto the canvas. They create their own painting in their own little prison. |
