Abstract
This article responds to the papers in this special issue, considering the consilience of semiotics and “extended ecology.” It compares both approaches with reference to the relation of language and Umwelt It suggests that one concept in semiotics which can contribute to the ecolinguistics in respect of avoiding solipsism in the consideration of phenomena of experience is “suprasubjectivity.”
