The points based system: a blunt instrument?
Wray, Helena E. (2009) The points based system: a blunt instrument? Journal of Immigration Asylum and Nationality Law, 23 (3) . pp. 231-251. ISSN 1746-7632 [Article]
Abstract
Discusses the points based system (PBS) for immigration, comparing it to the Government's own tests. Examines the implementation of the PBS and the five tiers relating to highly-skilled migrants, skilled workers, unskilled workers, students, and temporary workers and youth mobility. Considers the reasoning behind the PBS and looks at whether the system works for Britain. Notes problems arising from the lack of focus on equality.
