Abstract

This chapter explores the position of the Early Years Professional (EYP) as a pedagogical leader, whose role is essentially concerned with effective delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) in order to promote positive outcomes for young children. The concept of Early Years pedagogy, which is premised on an understanding of how children learn and develop, is initially explored and the chapter then considers various aspects of the complex role of pedagogical leadership.
