Abstract

Kathleen presented a group of six drawings from the series 'The Marianne North Paintings'.

These works are based on a Victorian garden at St Leonards on Sea. An investigation into the history of the house and garden built 1860. This research explores the progression of restoring the original Victorian garden, as recorded through the painting and drawing process. Kathleen’s investigation involves forming links between the past domestic histories and the current site.
The drawings are based on the botanical paintings of Marianne North.
