Abstract
Collaborative presentation with Katy Beinart.
This session will focus on the tensions encountered by artists working in contexts or regeneration and gentrification, considering ways that artists work with existing community groups and organisations and the ways that artists are bringing together ‘communities’ through participatory processes. We are interested in the ways communities are created and negated through participatory arts. What are the tensions in these processes? What ethical dilemmas are facing artists and their collaborators? What is the ‘impact’ of this kind of work on communities?
