Abstract
This paper examines the processes and interventions to support and engage employers hosting students undertaking the work-based leaning element of the BSc ( Hons) Environmental Health at Middlesex University and links these to the wider literature on work-based learning and good practice. The paper concluded that, whist some guidance has been produced, it must be recognised that misconceptions about the role of the learner in work-based practice may create tensions and confusion. This suggests the need for more diagogue within and between organisations to explore how the employer and the learner can be supported in the work place.
