Examines the development of the regulation of health and safety at work. Considers: (1) legislation prior to 1974; (2) the reasons for the introduction of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974; (3) regulation under the 1974 Act; and (4) the impact of the Health and Safety Commission's Strategy Statement of June 2000. Discusses EU developments including the significance of the Social Chapter.
