Abstract

Poor physical health is more common among people with mental health problems than in the population as a whole. The focus on equality of access and improved outcomes for mental health service users needing physical health care continues to escalate, but with little success in reality. This article explores the factors contributing to the gap between understanding and practice, and considers some of the solutions that could increase parity of health care.
