Abstract
My project was to create a performance text on the basis of a culturally remote, necessarily incomplete, and foreign-language play text.
In translating and directing the piece, I wanted to explore the relationship between translation for performance and directing, based on the contention that theatre translation may usefully be regarded as a function of mise en scene.
