Abstract
This study, sponsored by the Korea Electric Power Research Institute, was one of the first to show empirically, the effectiveness of the EID (Ecological Interface Design) framework. This study evaluated the effectiveness of providing functional information, which was abstracted and represented based on goal–means analysis, to operators in two task situations (fault diagnosis and operation). It identified how and why EID can improve the task performance.
The results of this study were subsequently used by the designers of the interfaces for the Korean next-generation nuclear power plants.
