Abstract

This chapter provides an account of the many changes in police investigative approaches to rape since the early 1980s. The Handbook editors' desire to bring together academics and practitioners provided us with the unique opportunity to integrate a police officer's 'on the job' experience investigating rape over the past 30 years alongside the academic literature.
