The British Academy of Marketing mirrors that of the USA in developing special interest groups to focus attention on specific aspects of its remit. One such group takes as its subject matter the marketing of higher education. This special issue is edited by the Chair of that group from papers delivered at its first European Conference in Cyprus. Papers presented are clustered in three themes: student recruitment, student service and theoretical issues. The content and context of the issues is discussed in the editorial.
